Customer Profile: [Pairings]

Pairings is a small single store wine shop that sells specialty wines and craft beers. It is located in Indianapolis, Indiana and is owned and operated by Philip Van Deusen. The name actually comes from the 20 years combined experience of the owners’ advice on pairing items.  Whether customers already have a wine, food item, or nothing at all, the expert staff at Pairings can make great suggestions on items that will compliment what you have or are looking for.  There is a strong focus on local products, and using vendors that the customers are already familiar with such as farmer’s markets.  This has helped them cut back on their carbon footprint while helping out local businesses at the same time.

What made Pairings decide to go with PayGo?

Philip explains, "The main focus when looking for a new POS system was to be Mac based.  An Apple store recommended a few products, and PayGo SaaS came out on top thanks to the Software As A Service model.  That model has a low up-front cost and doesn't tie you to any long-term support contracts.  Being up to date every time you log in was also a factor.  Being nimble to handle a small startup company was very important."

Pairings has found they have the ability to easily stay organized and keep orders accurate.  They can see all of the inventory information and fine-tune it to the way they’d like to use it.

"The customer tracking is also something we are starting to take advantage of.  With the large amount of customer information we can track, it helps make future sales to the customers easier," continued Van Deusen. "Having the ability to pull up someone’s history BEFORE they start looking around is beyond helpful.  It always impresses the customer, and gives the Pairings staff the upper hand over other stores in regards to customer service."

What is your favorite feature of PayGo and why?

One feature that Philip uses is the ability to access the software from home or on the road. Philip uses PayGo’s ability to log in remotely almost daily.  Having two licenses, they can have a cash register open at all times, while allowing the flexibility to sign in elsewhere for things like reports, inventory updating and any other monitoring that needs to be done.  The concurrent license setup allows that flexibility, as it doesn’t tie them down to specific computers.

He also states that the software helps keep inventory counts manageable as well as it helps reduce waste.
